Description

M3 is a globular cluster in the constellation Canes Venatici. At a visual magnitude of about 6.2, this bright cluster can be imaged with very short exposures. Globular clusters lend themselves well to imaging at long focal length, but at the oversampled image scale of 0.46" per pixel used here, any slight error in tracking and optical flaws will be quite obvious. This image looks good from a distance, but zooming in shows non-round stars that resulted from below average seeing and an occasional breeze. Since I did not get a single night with good seeing this past month, it's the best I can do on M3 for this year.
